Update on Away Rotations for 2021 at Advocate Christ Medical Center

Thank you for your interest in the Advanced Emergency Medicine Elective at Advocate Christ Medical Center.  As you can imagine, this season will again look a bit different than prior application seasons.  As of now, we will be using the guidance developed by the Coalition for Physician Accountability with regards to away rotations.  A link to the document is found below:

Our block schedule for our elective has been developed and we will be offering the following blocks:

Block 1: May 24 – June 19, 2021

Block 2: June 21 – July 17, 2021

Block 3: July 19 – August 14, 2021

Block 4: August 16 – September 11, 2021

Block 5: September 13 – October 9, 2021

Block 6: October 11 – November 6, 2021

Our application for Block 1 and 2 will open on March 1st and will be open to students who do not have access to a clinical experience with a residency program in Emergency Medicine in their school’s system (orphan programs).  We will also open these blocks to affiliated medical schools who may consider Advocate Christ Medical Center as a home rotation (UIC Chicago, UIC Rockford, UIC Peoria, UIC Urbana-Champaign, Chicago Medical School, Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine, and Des Moines University).

Our application for Blocks 3 through 6 will open on April 15th with anticipated first rounds of decisions being released on May 1st.  Blocks 3 through 6 are open to students from all LCME accredited US medical schools, including those not affiliated with our institution, assuming the school is permitting their students to participate in "away" rotations.

Please check back frequently, as recommendations quite possibly may change as the year progresses.  We look forward to your application!

Best,
