Global Health

Dr. Thaer Ahmad, Assistant Program Director, is our Medical Director for Global Health. He serves on the Acute Care Committee for MedGlobal, a humanitarian NGO serving vulnerable populations worldwide and has participated in several humanitarian relief trips, focusing on refugee populations, humanitarian conflict response, and training the trainer in low resource settings. His most recent work included joining MedGlobal’s short-term medical intervention in the Gaza Strip, Palestine.

Dr. Alejandra Alvarez, a member of our ACMC EM faculty, has developed a Global health elective and curriculum in Tijuana, Mexico. Our residents will have the opportunity to obtain a better understanding of the unique medical needs of immigrants and migrants traveling through Tijuana, and are able to provide direct patient care in an under-resourced clinical and street setting. Please view this video to learn more about the experience
